Construction Site Safety Reminders During High Winds

 

Due to the impending high wind event, Fairfax County advises that construction sites should be secured to protect for life safety and property protection. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

 

• Adhering to manufacturer’s recommendations for securing cranes on site for high winds and other weather events.
• Positioning cranes and other large equipment, such as excavators, away from power lines.
• Avoiding the use of personnel lifts and scaffolds during the wind event.
• Securing objects on higher levels (and towards the middle of the floor) on site that could potentially become a projectile or falling object hazard.
