Land Development Services Staff Pledge
One-Day Turnaround on Residential Trade Permits

Staff from the Land Development Services (LDS) Permitting Application Center (PAC) have realigned workflows and worked through an evaluation period to test the viability of a one-day turnaround for residential trade projects (mechanical, electrical and plumbing). Having done so, customers can count on a one business day turnaround for residential trade permits.

Steve Kendrick, manager of Permit Services said, “In an electronic world, where we’re open for business 24/7, it’s a challenge to be same day on anything because staff working hours do not match the availability of the system. However, by analyzing our processes and leveraging the benefits of the new PLUS system, we were able to improve our efficiency.”

Despite the 24/7 customer access to the Planning and Land Use System (PLUS), LDS staff can review applications associated with residential trade permits within one business day when the original application provides all the required information. Residential trades permit applications received by 3 p.m. Monday through Friday will be reviewed the same day; the application must be submitted by 3 p.m. and meet all minimal submission requirements.

Current review times for non-residential trade permits and other project types can be found at Land Development Metrics.
